Atalantia Ceylanica (Yaki Naran)

  

Atalantia ceylanica, commonly known as Yaki Naran (???????) or Wal Dehi, is a small, densely branched shrub native to Sri Lanka. It belongs to the Rutaceae family and typically grows to about 2.5 meters in height. The plant is characterized by sharp, slender spines approximately 25 mm long, and ovate to ovate-lanceolate or elliptic leaves measuring between 4 to 15 cm in length and 2 to 6 cm in width. Its axillary inflorescences are short, leading to subglobose, somewhat dry fruits.

Traditionally, various parts of the Yaki Naran plant have been utilized in Sri Lankan herbal medicine. The leaves, bark, and flowers are employed to address digestive ailments, fevers, coughs, and nervous system diseases.
